Review for This Love of Mine by Amanda Bennett

A girl with a broken past who hopes that she can make a better life for herself and a country boy who wants nothing more than to move out and get on with his life.

Kayla's journey isn't an easy one. She's had to survive some brutal reality with her mom on drugs and drinking, her dad gone tending to his new family, and her boyfriend on drugs and not caring that other girls were hanging all over him. She made life the best she could and depended on her best friend Cami a lot. When she tried to leave, she found that leaving is a lot harder than staying.

Madison was more than ready to move out and get to Arizona so that he could start his training camp until his granddad asked him to pick up the James' granddaughter. The instant he laid eyes on her, he couldn't resist her. Although his granddad told him to stay away from her, he couldn't and found that he wouldn't.

When the two of them start opening up to each other, sparks fly. Kayla opens up and becomes softer and happier. Madison pushes off his training so that he can spend more time with her. Life is good until he decides that he's going to go and leave her to live her life in Texas with her grandparents. Both are brokenhearted but they know that somehow they'll end up together.

In the end Kayla's memories of Madison leaving are tainted by her ex returning to her life.

Blurb:
How do you live with the gut clenching truth that the one you love will die if you meet them? Twenty year old sorcerer Scott Tabors is learning how. After seeing seventeen year old Olivia Whitehead outside of a coffee shop, his heart will never be the same. He longs for her, he wants her, and he knows she will be his. They are heart mates. …but due to a curse on his family, he can’t meet her. Not yet. So for now, he visits her in her dreams. Her dreams where he can tell her everything but his name.
Olivia Whitehead is a typical junior in high school. She and her best friend are having the time of their lives, but she can’t help but notice the changes happening to her. Especially the changes in her heart after she begins dreaming about a mysterious dark haired young man. But what will happen when the school heartthrob decides he wants Olivia? Will she realize the dream man is real or will she move on?

Excerpts:

#1-Olivia’s POV
I’m outside. The moon is high and glowing, there are trees all around. This is a new location. I look around for Mr. Sexy, but I can’t see him anywhere, it’s too dark. Looking around, I realize this place is familiar. Wait…I’m in the field I was day dreaming about earlier. The soft green grass is like silk between my toes. There are yellow daisies everywhere. Trees line the perimeter, it’s almost like I’m in a box. I’m wearing my shorts and cami, but I’m not cold. The wind is blowing just enough to ruffle my hair. “Hello?”
I call timidly. Nothing. It’s completely silent out, not even birds are chirping. I glance around and walk forward. My arms are wrapped around the front of me, not for warmth, but for comfort. I know I’m dreaming, but this is still kind of weird. I see a deer to my left, just watching me. She’s beautiful and majestic. She starts to come towards me the moment I wish I could pet her. My hand slowly reaches out and touches her course coat. Huge brown eyes look into mine, there’s no fear.
“You’re beautiful,” I whisper.
“So are you,” a deep voice says from behind me.
I turn violently, scaring the deer off into the trees. Mr. Sexy is standing five feet in front of me. Jeans and a fitted white t-shirt clothe his fit body.
“You’re here.”
“Of course I am, where else would I be?”
“I thought…well I wasn’t sure if this was our dream or just mine.”
“It’s ours Livvie, it’s ours. Always ours.”

#2-Olivia’s POV
Aiden followed closely behind me. We sat and our hands brushed as we both reached for the same arm rest. I giggled with embarrassment and moved the opposite rest instead. I breathed deeply, trying to relax myself before the theater went dark. I moved my eyes slightly, trying to get a sideways glance at Aiden. His chiseled face looked as stormy and dangerous from his profile as his eyes did from the front. As I studied him, he seemed to sense me and turned slowly. His eyes seemed to swallow my soul and I felt my hand moving toward his. Just as I was inches from gripping his fingers, J cleared her throat behind me.
My mind seemed to clear, like the fog lifting from the ground. I turned slowly, almost feeling like my mind and body were not my own anymore. I looked at J, my eyes looking deep into hers but my mind still felt disconnected. I felt like I was screaming inside, like I was trapped in my own body.
“Liv?”
The voice coming from mouth didn’t seem like my own. It sounded distant and disconnected.
“Yeah?”
She reached out grabbed my arm, gripping me tightly and shaking me slightly.
“Liv, what’s wrong?”
I glanced back at Aiden, still looking like a wild storm brewing, and I shrugged my shoulders in confusion.

#3-Scott’s POV
My reflection was much calmer than my inside. I was an absolute wreck inside, worried and scared about the events that would happen tonight at the dance. Wearing black dress pants and a white buttoned shirt, I looked dressed up enough to blend in if I had to go in the building for any reason. My pockets were loaded with stunning charms that would stun the attacker if I threw them at him. I had a knife in my back pocket, big enough to do damage if needed. I didn’t want this fight to become that violent, but I was prepared to protect Livvie if I had to.
Mark had similar charms and weapons to guard himself with. I had given them to him after he had left school. Grandma and Sadie were prepared with spells they had memorized. Immobilizing spells, memory erasing spells (for the dance goers), slumber charms, and they had found a few control spells that would be handy if we needed the crowd to leave without putting up a fight. Overall, I felt that we were well prepared. I couldn’t help the sinking feeling in the pit of stomach, a feeling that told me The Crimson Calamitous was much stronger and this may all be for naught.

Blog tour for Amanda Bennett's This Trust of Mine

Review
I've always been a fan of Amanda Bennett ever since I read her Broken series. This is another one of those series that you can't help but fall in love with. The characters go through situations that everyday people go through and it doesn't make it seem like the characters are superheros who hardly ever have problems or have problems that are so out there it's impossible for anyone to have gone through them.

Madison and Kayla are a couple that have problems every couple could go through. One goes off to college in another state leaving the other behind to deal with their problems on their own. They both think that it's best for the one in college because they're living their dreams. Until the point in time comes that they can't be away from each other again.

Every relationship has it's ups and downs. Kayla and Madison both manage to get through the ups and downs so that they end up together. Kayla doesn't have to deal with what happened to her the night after Madison left alone and Madison tells her the mistake he made after not having talked to her for over a month.

When Madison comes back home, he works on earning Kayla's trust back. He does everything he possibly can so that he can prove to her that he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. He picks her up and takes her to school then picks her up and takes her home after they spend some time together.

When tragedy hit the Raine family, Kayla is right there to help Madison through it just as he helped her through what she had to deal with not a few weeks back. They both become each others life raft as they work through it.

When Madison's world crashes down, Kayla swears that she'll be right there with him to help him pick up the pieces. But is her world about to crash down as well?

I honestly can't wait till the third book comes out because Amanda Bennett left it at a cliffhanger. So many things could change Madison and Kayla's life but will it be for better or for worse?

Excerpts
My feet left the ground with the strength of his arms pulling me up and into him. My arms instinctively wrapped tightly around his neck with the strength of a thousand men. I breathed in his scent and my lips grazed the base of his heated neck. He was here. He was actually here in front of me and he was touching me with those unbelievable hands. My eyes fluttered shut as his grip on my waist tightened enough for me to feel his excitement against my belly. I let a small knowing smile creep across my face with the knowledge that I still affected him so. When I could finally find the words to speak, beat me to the punch, as always.  ~Kayla

I jumped into my truck and started the engine, revving it loud enough to make my point. I threw it in reverse and gunned it out of that parking lot. I didn't need to look in the rear view mirror to know that I had left her standing there, hurt and most likely cryin', but if you're gonna try to f**k with the only relationship I had ever wanted, then I was sure as hell goin' to make you pay for makin' me lose it.   ~Madison

Review for Blood of the Soul by Rene Folsom

Ai yi yi! This is one of the best ones yet in my opinion. Rene Folsom does a great job at keeping the reader wanting more Ella and Jonah. This has both heat and mystery.

"I just showed the man that I am all too quick to run for the hills when things get a little intimidating."

Jonah and Ella have a rocky start but quickly everything is set back into place when they both admit to each other that things are moving a little fast for their first day together. Although they've known each other for six years in their dreams, things are different in real life.

" The abrupt and passionate movement caused several drops of rain water to fall from his hair and cascade between my cleavage."

Throughout their first date, Jonah and Ella get a little hot and heavy several times, but each time they are stopped because Jonah doesn't want to push Ella and she said she wasn't ready. They both want what the other has to give, but they don't want to mess up a good thing. As long as things are looking up, the want to keep doing things the way they are.

"What was odd about this day is, my father usually forbade me to donate blood...ever."

Ella and Jonah are finding that they seem to be connected by more than just love. Their hearts beat as one and when Ella talks about pain, Jonah feels it. Can the two lovers be connected by blood as well as love?

Rene Folsom is notorious for leaving a cliffhanger that leads into the next book. The ending of this one makes me antsy for what the next one might bring. There are so many things that can happen between Ella and Jonah and their situation. There are truths to be told and answers to be found. But will they find those answers and still be together?

Review for Forbidden Pleasures by Emily Jane Trent

Natalie and Tanner's relationship goes to the next level. Natalie can't seem to get enough of Tanner and the more she gets into his lifestyle, the more she wants of it. She finds herself craving him more than she did before. She continues to explore the things that Tanner likes and finds that it turns her on more than she thought possible. She would do anything to continue with the things that Tanner likes.

The couple continue to capture the readers attention with not only their sexual appetite, but also the way that Tanner cares for Natalie outside of the bedroom. The way that Tanner helps Natalie continue to build her business and the expensive gifts and dinners that he takes her out for.

Emily Trent does a great job at showing how this relationship grows and how the two of them change themselves to fit the other. She is consistent and doesn't change a character's personality from book to book. They are easy books to get into as long as you're into the genre and the content of the book.

Review for Deep Obsession by Emily Jane Trent

The story of Natalie and Tanner continues to capture the reader as the scene changes to Russia. In the bitter cold of a different country, Natalie and Tanner are still going strong as ever.

Between working on her new business and spending time with her friend Cheryl, she still finds time to do as Tanner wishes of her. Their relationship continues as it always has but is it moving out of sexual and into a deeper commitment?

Can Natalie even ask Tanner of something different or is she comfortable where she is? All that she knows is that her obsession with Tanner has grown deeper than what it was when they first met.

She's been obsessed with him ever since that first meeting in the concert hall. Her every waking moment was consumed with thoughts of him and when she met him again after she moved to New York and fell into his lifestyle, she realized that she's been obsessed with him all along.

Is her obsession good for her or will it lead her into some trouble that she might not be able to get out of? Read Deep Obsession to get more of Natalie and Tanner's relationship.

Short interview with the radiant Rene Folsom

Do you ever start accidentally writing Jonah and Ella into one of your Roommate Romance books?
Their names?  No.  Their personalities?  Yes.  I’ve also wanted to use the name Ella over again—not on purpose—but just because her character is still speaking to me.

What gave you the inspiration to do two series that are totally different in content?
Initially, Voices of the Soul was supposed to be a standalone short story for the Paranormal Anthology with a Twist.  After my editor and partner in crime read it, she insisted I continue the story and make a series out of it.  However, I’ve always wanted to write erotica.  While Twist was still being compiled and formatted, I was given a Valentine’s Day challenge that resulted in Heart You.  This year, on Valentine’s Day, Cynthia Shepp posted a Goodreads group thread challenging authors to come up with a short story using the following prompts: Valentine’s Day, candy conversation hearts, a love triangle, a black rose, and water balloons.  Needless to say, I pumped something out fairly quick.  After talking with Cynthia, who is also my editor, I decided to expand on the story and publish it.  I was already done with several other short stories by this point, but they were not published yet.  So, Heart You became my first published book and was inspired by Cynthia’s challenging prompts.  Therefore a whole new series was born through no fault of my own!  (Okay, that’s a lie—but I still like to blame it on Cynthia because I can.)

What gives you the ideas that you use for the Roommate Romance series?
I can never avoid this question!  But, really, I don’t mind answering.  All my readers want to know if my naughty bits are inspired by my own experiences.  My answer, although vague, is usually this: All fiction is based on some form of reality—otherwise we would never have the inspiration or knowledge to dream up the realistic situations we portray with our words.  I am proud to say that my personal experiences have been inspirational, though perhaps not always identical to that of my fictional characters. Where reality and fantasy diverge, however, must remain my little secret...
I will tell you one little tidbit I haven’t shared with the public yet (this is a first).  The gala basement scene from Bind Me is “based” on a real-life experience of my own.  Which situations are real versus fiction will never be revealed.

You use purple a lot in the Soul Seer series. Is that your favorite color?
Yes.  Purple and green are my favorite color combination.  My birthstone is also amethyst, so that’s a plus.

Would you ever consider moving from the current Paranormal and Erotica genre that you write in and write something that is outside your comfort zone?
I’ve considered it and might possibly venture into another genre eventually.  But, that moment is very far off in the distance.  I can’t seem to steer clear from romance at the moment.  No matter what I try to write, the characters always end up making out in the end.  :)

If you had to write something that was completely out of your genre and you had a time frame to write it, would you accept the challenge or would you need more time to think on it and get it perfect?
I guess that would depend on the timeframe and what writing projects I currently had on my plate.  I wanted to participate in a paranormal YA anthology recently, but I couldn’t seem to grasp the youthfulness I needed in the short time I had.  I really wanted to participate in it, but it just didn’t happen and the last thing I wanted was for the story to feel forced.

What is a must have when you sit down to write?
My laptop.  I know, y’all are thinking, “well, duh!”  What I mean is, I seem to write more freely on my laptop than I do sitting at a desk.  I’m not sure why that is, but sitting at my large 27” iMac screen is just too busy and cluttered with work projects.  It makes it hard to concentrate.  When using my laptop, I can carry it wherever I damn well please in order to be in a comfortable and quiet atmosphere.  I also like some Twizzlers and Mountain Dew… but it’s not an absolute must, especially when I’m inspired.

Review for Bound by Love by Emily Jane Trent

Each time I pick up another book by Emily Jane Trent, I find that it was hotter than the last one. Natalie and Tanner continue to grow in their relationship not only in the bedroom -as well as everywhere else- but out of it.

Natalie's family now lives in New York so that she can be closer to her sick mother and help her mother get the care that she needs. Not only is it nice that her mother and sister are living closer, but her sister is now developing a romance with her best friend and Natalie couldn't be happier about her.

Her company is hitting it off and Tanner is no longer expecting her to work for him unless he asks her specifically although he isn't because he wants her to focus on hers. A friend of Tanner's picked up Natalie's designs and now there is another person who wants to pick them up as well.

While all this is going on, Natalie and Tanner go back to where it all started...the concert hall where he left her.

How will going back to a very sentimental location effect Tanner and Natalie? Read Bound by Love to find out!

Review for Heavy Metal Heartbeat by AmBear Shella

Heavy Metal Heartbeat is a great addition to the Rock n Roll Paraphantasy Series. It tells the story of Ozzie and his trials as he struggles to come to terms with what he now is as well as the fact that he is now going to spend the rest of his life with the woman he loves. But first he must get through those who would keep him from her.

Ozzie comes to from his life threatening injuries better than ever. He proposes to his love, Paige and gets to spend some time with his father. His father -who is another hunter- wants to kill all of Ozzie's friends, but he conveniences him that they aren't like the ones that they hunt.

Just when everything is going good, the bad has to start. Paige goes out to get clothes for her and Ozzie, she's kidnapped.

Ozzie is determined to find her but as he does, he finds himself in the process. He is no longer the Ozzie that he knew, he is now the Hunter of Zane. With that comes some responsibilities -as all greatness does- and he is show exactly why he was chosen as THE hunter.

In the end Ozzie gets Paige back but there is still two of his friends in danger. What will happen to the two that aren't safely back at Anna's house? What will happen next for Ozzie and Paige besides their upcoming wedding? Will Ozzie survive his mother and bride to be planning the wedding? All questions I hope are answered in a third book.

Short interview with the fantastic Felicia Tatum

Where did you come up with the idea of heart mates as first mentioned in The White Aura?
Honestly, I was just thinking of “soulmates” and wanted to change it up. So what better than a mate connected to your heart? Heart mates!

Are any of your characters based off people that you know in real life?
Sadie is based off me! We’re both quite the sassy girls. And Juniper is based off a good friend of mine, Laura.

Does Olivia’s white aura have anything to do with what her parents are?
Most definitely. Since she is a special, one of a kind combination, she gets her own color!

In The Vessel Scott and Aiden are constantly going at each other. Is that really out of jealousy or is it because of what Aiden did when he was being used?
A little bit of both. Scott doesn’t like that Liv is being so nice to him, after everything that happened, and is jealous because she spent those months locked up with him and they were alone. He is a guy!

How does Juniper and Mark’s relationship work with her being so different than what she was and what he is?
I think they make it work because they had a connection before any of this happened. They’ve had feelings for each other for as long as they can remember, even though they were too chicken to do anything about it!

How/When did the inspiration hit you to write this series?
I had a dream about and once I started writing, it just went from there!!
